Now that I have gotten back to Paris, and have more access to a computer, I can post the last several days in London. It is different than I expected. It's not like Paris or New York, but rather somewhere in between. It's the really old cheek-to-jowl with the really new. Pine-cone shaped office buildings up against St Paul's Cathedral. Jarring to say the least! Anyway, a very nice stay.
Starting at Wellington's statue in Trafalgar Square, it's time for a trip on the Big Bus for a whirl around the city. First, Big Ben, which is surprisingly not really, really tall, and then across the Thames for the sights on the south bank of the river. Most of the London landmark's are on the north bank, and you get a really good look across the water at them. Crossing back at the Tower Bridge, you go by the Tower of London, which is really a castle, and there the Crown Jewels are kept, and it's also where Anne Boleyn was beheaded along with many others who might or might not have deserved it! That is the Tower of London Bridge in back of me. St Paul's is marvelous, but they charge 10 Pounds to get in and NO pictures allowed. Enough for now.
